Macadamian is a development firm that was founded in 1997 and headquartered in Canada. They proudly see themselves as having the ability to tackle uncharted territory and jump into any product development cycle and become productive immediately. Globally, they have more than 750 completed projects.
Towards this end, they are jumping into the development of BlackBerry 10 apps. According to a press release from a city in western Quebec, Canada, called Gatineau, Macadamian has increased its rate of app development for BlackBerry 10 by 85 percent.
This comes from greater customer demand for new BlackBerry 10 apps, and Macadamian has upped its pace producing new apps. They appear to be averaging a new app every two weeks. This started with the launch of the Z10 smartphone back at the end of January.
In the past three months, they have developed seven new BlackBerry 10 apps. The CEO of Macadamian, Frederic Boulanger, dedicated a full quarter of the company workforce to design BlackBerry 10 applications. The BlackBerry 10 business unit consists of more than 50 people.
Boulanger is excited to be at BlackBerry Live 2013 and had this to say: “We were one of the first to get behind the BlackBerry 10 platform and we’re seeing results. Stellar user experiences drive business value for our clients and that’s been critical to our success.”
One of their apps is Maxim’s first video mobile app, running on Z10 screens. It is a free download and so far has earned the ‘Built for BlackBerry’ status, sporting a 4.5 out of 5 rating on the BlackBerry World storefront.
The vice president of digital at Maxim, Bill Shaw, said, “We were thrilled to work with Macadamian on our brand’s BlackBerry 10 video-rich mobile app. It looks terrific and expands our breadth across multiple platforms in order to reach Maxim fans whenever and wherever they consume content.”
This is what BlackBerry needs – companies that will develop and deliver native apps for the BlackBerry 10 platform. BlackBerry Live 2013 begins tomorrow in Orlando, Fla. Hopefully we will see more companies following Macadamian’s lead and start creating a lot more useful apps for BlackBerry 10.
