Encore Networks EN-4000 Router Offers 4G LTE and HSPA+ Connectivity

Encore Networks recently launched a new 4G LTE/HSPA+ broadband router, expanding its portfolio of IP+Legacy wireline/wireless routers. Called the EN-4000, this router is an Ethernet 3G/4G model that supports single and simultaneous dual wireless carriers.

The EN-4000 is the first in the new 4000 series of routers, which will see more releases this year including configurable slots for legacy wireline interfaces such as T1, fiber, two and four-wire analog voice, alarm contacts, RS-232, serial and VoIP services. The EN-4000, meanwhile, offers support for TCP/IP Ethernet and wireless-based services, transported over public or private 4G LTE and HSPA+ wireless cellular carrier networks in both North America and internationally.

“Encore continues to design and build products in the United States that meet the rigorous demands of our customers for mission critical applications,” said Peter Madsen, president and CEO of Encore Networks. “With its high availability and fiber like speeds using 4G wireless services, the EN-4000 addresses the enterprise and SMB needs for business continuity. Customer feedback during initial trials has been overwhelmingly positive because of the easy to use Web interface and the utilization of two different carriers for traffic load balancing and failover.”

The company recently entered into a partnership with Gemalto, a provider of digital security, which will see the latter company supplying wireless connectivity via its Cinterion M2M technology to Encore Networks' routers deployed in mission critical applications.

The En-4000 itself is capable of providing IP, VPN, firewall, Ethernet switching and legacy protocol to IP interworking for a broad range of critical M2M, SCADA, video surveillance and enterprise applications.

Furthermore, the router is available in two models, commercial temperature and ruggedized temperature hardened, both of which are capable of withstanding extremes hot and cold temperatures, with the latter being the more resistant of the two. This allows the EN-4000 to be installed in a wide range of environmental conditions with AC/DC power or power over Ethernet (PoE) options for installation flexibility.
