Truphone Brings Cheaper International Calling to Businesses

It’s no secret that international calling tends to be expensive. This is compounded by the extra complications that generally arise while travelling between multiple countries, as many times travelers have to keep switching numbers. It gets even more complicated when the traveler is using a mobile plan provided by their employer. This hassle can be eliminated and the costs reduced by using Truphone’s latest innovation – an international mobile plan for businesses with shared minutes and data.

The plan covers travelers in the so-called “Truphone Zone,” which includes the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. It will soon also include Germany, Poland and Spain. By treating the minutes and data the same regardless of which country in the Truphone Zone the caller is in, the cost of the mobile plan stays predictable and is often more affordable than the other options.

Additionally, the plan by Truphone eliminates the need for handling multiple inboxes and voicemails due to having multiple phone numbers. The SIM card holds multiple phone numbers so that users have a local number in whatever country they are in. This not only allows travelers to have all their calls, texts and data aggregated on one phone, but it also allows other people from that country to place calls to travelers as though it were a local call, not an international one.

Although there have been attempts to create solutions for cheaper international calling, most are tailored to individuals, not companies. Truphone’s shared international plan for businesses is one of a kind, since no other company has ever combined shared minutes with an international plan. There is, however, a large market for cheaper international calling for businesses; roughly 40 percent of large companies require their employees to either actively try to use less minutes and data while abroad or refrain from calling at all. This is a huge issue, and one that Truphone may be taking a step toward solving.
