Best Buy is cutting the price of the iPhone by $50 in a month-long promotion that started on Sunday. The company has long had a relationship with some of the top electronics companies in the world. Whether talking about e-readers like the Barnes and Noble Nook or competing smartphones like those that Android has put on the market, Best Buy continues to be one of the top electronics retailers in the country.
The price cut that the company is going to be offering up for the next four weeks will cover the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5. In order to take advantage of the discount, consumers need to sign up for a two-year contract with one of the companies that service the iPhone.
The iPhone is not the only smartphone that Best Buy is going to be offering discounts in honor of Memorial Day. There are also plenty of Android smartphones that are being offered up on a discount for a short period of time.
Beginning on May 26 and running through June 1, Best Buy locations around the country will be offering up the Samsung Galaxy SIII for just $49. That is a $50-price cut for users on the AT&T and Sprint networks. For Verizon users, the HTC Droid DNA will also be priced at $49. That is actually a $150-price cut while the HTC One X for AT&T will be offered up for free.
The move comes as Best Buy is trying to get rid of its backlog of older Android smartphones. The rumors of brand new iPhones coming later this summer is likely also sparking the desire to get rid of Apple phones that might be obsolete by the end of September.
