Say Goodbye to the Days of the 'Hard Knock Life': Jay-Z and Samsung Team for Multi Million Dollar Deal

Just when you thought the man who goes by countless monikers including Jay-Z, Jigga, Sean Carter and HOV, couldn’t get any richer or partner with any more heavy hitters, headlines are revealing that the man who got lucky enough to call Beyoncé his wife has teamed with Samsung and will rake in nearly $20 million big ones.

Born on December 4. 1969, Mr. Carter has come quite a long way from his roots of being raised in the Marcy projects in Brooklyn, N.Y. In fact, he is highlighted as being one of the most financially successful hip-hop artists and entrepreneurs in the entire country, with estimates from Forbes last year highlighting he is worth upwards of $500 million. Jay-Z has sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide, been presented with seventeen Grammy Awards for his musical work, not to mention both his albums Reasonable Doubt (1996) and The Blueprint (2001) were included in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Yet, it seems as if co-owning the 40/40 Club as well as being co-creator of the clothing line Rocawear just aren’t enough for the mogul who is always looking for that next big idea, as he hopes to expand its empire into the rapidly growing music streaming space through his alliance with the mobility specialist known as Samsung.

Tony Rizzo, MobilityTechzone Senior Editor added that the partnership proves that “Samsung continues to keep its marketing front and center and the marketing pressure on Apple.” But if you look at the above picture, you can clearly see J snapping a quick shot with his iPhone. This is something he may want to avoid doing in the near future.

While little details having been issued at this time, what we do know is that the former drug dealer turned musical mastermind has long been interested in sports and has been making moves in order to get more involved with becoming a sports agent. This alliance will prove to be win-win situation for both the rapper and the mobile device business with a recent report adding, “You can speculate that he’ll want to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices.”

No matter what Jay-Z does at this point in his life, I am pretty sure that he and his family for generations to come will be more than financially stable. So, why not do something that interests him? He really has nothing to lose at this point.
