Blackberry Hoping for Return to Enterprise Good Graces

Blackberry has spent the last five years down and out, but the company says it’s making a heck of a comeback in 2013. The company just released a report that, it claims, shows that 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies are now testing out various phones from Blackberry’s line. With the rollout of the Qwerty equipped Q10, Blackberry is trying to take back a market that was once almost exclusively the Canadian smartphone maker’s to command.

Formerly known as RIM, the company has set 2013 as the year when it comes back with both barrels blazing, and if the report can be believed, one has to think the higher ups at the firm might be right. The Z10, another new Blackberry phone, just launched earlier this year and the Q10 is supposed to appeal to those dwindling few who still want a physical keyboard on their phone.

When the Q10 launched, it launched on all four major U.S. carriers and the company believes that is a big step. It is going to have to make quite a few big steps, however, as the latest shipment reports saw the Canadian firm holding just 1 percent of the market share for smartphones.

Blackberry has always been a company that relies on corporate users. The company believes that a majority of big firms testing or installing the Blackberry Enterprise System was a sign that the corporate world was coming back to it. In a recent release, the company also said that it believes that many of its former users were just waiting for it to make a comeback. Now that the comeback is here, the company believes that enterprise level users especially will be ditching the Android and iPhones for the Q10 or Z10.

The Q10 was made available across the pond two months ago, but just released last Wednesday in the United States. T-Mobile is selling the phone now, while AT&T and Verizon are going to be shipping later in June. Spring is expected to start selling the Q10 later this summer.
