BT Boosts BYOD

Bringing your own device is a great way to improve productivity and connectivity, but it can go farther. BT is helping to do just that, with new solutions designed to help improve the benefits of BYOD further, letting CIOs deploy smart devices with an improved user experience.

With BT’s approach to BYOD, the company takes the networking solutions capabilities from its BT Connect portfolio and the security services from BT Assure, creating new services, products and features to improve its BYOD solution. This provides control, connect and experience features, which are key to making BYOD work.

Included in the solution is the BT Advise BYOD Ready Infrastructure Quick Start, which determines how prepared an organization is for BYOD, and the impact it will have on the company’s WAN and LAN requirements. This way, companies with employees using personal devices won’t bog down the network, keeping efficiency up. Also for helping get started on BYOD is the BT Advise BYOD Quick Start, a professional services offer which helps customers determine how to prepare for BYOD and implement it.

When it comes to solutions, BYOD offers a suite of them for CIOs. This includes new wireless LAN capabilities, such as enhancement management and policy control, giving greater visibility into who’s using what and where. There’s also a new cloud-based device and mobile application management service, and Connect Intelligence for devices, which provides central visibility to the applications that smart devices use.

"Through our recent research surveying IT managers and users working in major companies all around the world, it has become very clear that BYOD productivity gains are only reaped if network services can cope securely with the extra load,” said Neil Sutton, VP of BT’s Global Portfolio. “Great devices require better networks. We are ideally placed to provide the intelligent network solutions to meet those needs.”

Sutton added, “Our wireless solutions and our identity and access control policy platform are designed to provide a seamless user experience whilst implementing compliant and enhanced infrastructure security, all from a centralized point. Our wireless solutions allow organizations to give that connectivity to their own customers and to personalize their experience thanks to our identity and location management solutions. We now offer a great value proposition to our customers, with an integrated mix of fixed and mobile services, a strong professional services wrap and proven security features and we offer that in a cost effective way."

Given the increasing popularity of BYOD, it’s important that companies be able to not only determine if they’re ready for it, but to control their policies and the devices being used. BT is helping companies do just that, putting its experience and knowledge to use for companies ready to start bringing their own devices.
