Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad Features Unique Hinge

At the recent CTIA 2013 show in Las Vegas, mobile device accessories maker ZAGG Inc. displayed novel keyboard accessories for the Apple iPad Mini. TMC’s CEO Rich Tehrani visited the ZAGG booth to get a good glimpse at newly introduced ZAGGkeys Cover and ZAGGkeys Folio.  Showing off these two novel keyboard accessories to Tehrani was ZAGG’s director of marketing Brad Bell.

The marketing executive told TMC that ZAGG has been innovating tablet keyboard accessories for last few years and latest products are in line with those innovations. Bell talked about ZAGG’s pioneering of Bluetooth-enabled keyboards to enhance tablet productivity, as well as introducing new features like its intuitive channel tablet stand and special function keys that have become an industry standard.

According to Bell, the ultra-thin Bluetooth accessories ZAGGkeys Cover and ZAGGkeys Folio are expected to be available online and through select retail partners by early summer. Per Bell’s explanation, the new ultra-thin Bluetooth keyboard accessories are built with a unique, patent-pending hinge system that enhances the iPad mini user experience with a full range of viewing angles up to 135 degrees.

Unlike traditional keyboards that convert a tablet into a laptop, the ZAGG iPad M Mini Folio, goes a step further. It offers a hinge that allows you to set the screen to any angle, just as you would with a laptop, stated Bell. In essence, he added, “they are lighter, more convenient and easier to use than any other tablet keyboard accessory on the market.”

Bell also highlighted the fact that the final accessory products were based on extensive customer research. While the new ZAGGkeys Cover is the thinnest at 6.3mm, the ZAGGkeys Folio is ultra-thin at 6.9mm. Besides the patented a unique hinge, the keyboards also feature backlit keys in seven color options and three lighting levels. A powerful battery keeps them going for up to three months of normal use before it needs to be charged, while a magnetic closure protects the screen during transport.

The ZAGGkeys Cover will be available in both silver and black, matching the back finish of the iPad mini. It is expected to retail for $99.99. Likewise, the ZAGGkeys Folio initially will be available in black and white, with new colors rolling off the production line by fall. The accessory has a suggested retail price of $99.99.
