AirTight Networks Adds Cellular Detection Service for Secured Environments

Wireless communications allow people and machines to communicate virtually everywhere around the world, but there are certain secured environments in which wireless communications have to be controlled. Military installations, Department of Defense (DOD) contract facilities, prisons and other facilities that have to protect their assets with increased level of security. AirTight Networks is adding new security features to its secure cloud-managed Wi-Fi and wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) solutions. The new cellular phone detection capabilities allow the enforcement of no wireless zones with 3G, 4G LTE and CDMA device detection and reporting.

AirTight Networks is a recognized global provider of secure cloud Wi-Fi solutions, offering a true carrier-class multi-tenant cloud architecture, Wi-Fi analytics, manageability, cost effective and easy deployment and WIPS technology for customers in finance, hospitality sectors, government, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and technology/telecom.

The new module can detect voice and data communication activity once it is plugged into AirTight C-60 wireless sensor. The sensor forwards this activity to the AirTight management console, where an automated event tracking and reporting is initiated.

The management console can alert the appropriate security personnel through e-mail or the management interface when a violation has taken place. It provides the time, frequency band, physical location, and the length of the conversation. Along with alerts, it can create a scheduled custom report that can be generated and distributed automatically. It also monitors and detects contraband cellular phones in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), network and printer eavesdropping devices that use cellular radios to transmit confidential information beyond the security perimeter as well as enforcing other no-wireless compliance policies with the DOD and other federal agencies.

"With reliable detection technology, cellular devices can be easily located and physically removed or disabled to ensure compliance. And by integrating our new cellular detection with our automated wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS), our customers can now maintain comprehensive 24/7 wireless security that combines tracking and reporting of cellular activity plus our industry leading WIPS for the unlicensed Wi-Fi bands," said Dr. Hemant Chaskar, vice president of technology and innovation at AirTight Networks.

The technology the company provides passed the Test Integration Council (TIC) tests for inclusion on the Defense Information Systems Agency Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (DISA UC APL). This is a list of products that have completed interoperability (IO) and information assurance (IA) certification. DoD UC APL allows DoD components to purchase and operate UC systems over all DoD network infrastructures.
