Boingo Wireless has long been one of those companies that provides Wi-Fi services to people all over the world. Now the company has announced the App Download, which will allow for retailers and businesses to reward users with free Wi-Fi access in exchange for verified downloads of their specific iOS and Android apps.

Sebastian Tonkin, the vice president of advertising product management for Boingo, talked about what his company believes can be the effect of this particular solution.

“The Boingo Media advertising network reaches affluent, tech-savvy consumers in some of the most high-traffic travel hubs and metro areas in the world,” Tonkin said in a recent statement. “Our new App Download product gives advertisers the unique opportunity to drive mobile app installs among a desirable, hard-to-reach demographic. Even better, they get to give these folks free Wi-Fi in the process. Boingo says there are already over a dozen travel, technology and entertainment brands set to take advantage of the App Download and already several customers looking into this application and service. Boingo’s services stretch around the globe in coffee shops, restaurants and airports. It stands to reason that any company that has worked with Boingo in the past will look to take advantage of this service.
