Roaming charges – the portion of the wireless bill everyone dreads when they look at their monthly statement. Depending where you are when you make a call or use data services, the rates can be outrageously expensive.

The European Union passed roaming regulations in July of this year to cut prices by more than 30 percent for using the Internet abroad. On September 11, 2013, the EU will propose a new law to merge the European telecom market into a single market by 2016, thereby eliminating roaming charges throughout.
