iOS 7.0.3 Ready for Takeoff

Apple is busy rolling out the latest version of its operating system for iPhones, iPod Touch and iPad. Despite the release of iOS 7.0.2 last week, the company is already prepping to launch 7.0.3, according to Boy Genius Report.

Why another system update? As it is with new versions, there are still some kinks to iron out. For one, iMessage is being extremely wonky. Message boards around the Internet show users are complaining that they'd send a message, which at first seem to send without issue, only to later see the dreaded red exclamation point that means it wasn't actually sent.

"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update," Apple said in a statement. "In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."

The messaging problem has coincided with the iOS 7.0.2 update, which Apple released on Sept. 26 to fix a flaw in the first release that let anyone bypass an iPhone lock screen and password access.

The flaw lets people circumvent the security code in seconds, leaving their phone and personal information, not to mention access to various applications and social outlets, at risk.

Another issue known with the iOS 7 rollout for the iPhone 5s allowed users to bypass the iPhone fingerprint scanner.

Despite its many shortcomings, iOS 7 promises to be a pretty big deal where business and productivity is concerned.

“This has long been anticipated and even assumed by mobile enterprise workers. It was not until this latest operating system release, however, that users could take operations to the next level,” according to a recent MobilityTechzone report.

7.0.3 waits in the wings – more to come after its supposed release.
