Fortune 500 Companies Not Embracing Mobile Fast Enough

While iMomentous might be best known as a company that offers a highly scalable mobile talent technology platform, the company also just released its 3rd annual Corporate Mobile Readiness Report. This particular report takes a look at the mobile career sites of some of the most powerful companies in the United States. Among these Fortune 500 companies, quite a few of the firms received some truly poor grades. Among the best and most successful, fast food provider McDonald’s is at the top of the list.

iMomentous has pointed out that the number of people who are looking for jobs by using mobile devices has only continued to grow. More than 30 percent of searches on search engines like Google are now committed using mobile devices. The problem is that while there are a huge number of people looking for work using their tablets and smartphones, the companies that have the jobs haven’t embraced mobile very well.

The Corporate Mobile Readiness Report was created by looking at the websites of some of the most powerful companies in the US. The visits to these websites were done using an iPhone and iMomentous employees conducted the mobile job application process to evaluate how the companies handle these mobile interactions. Among the factors that the company took into account were whether or not the website had a mobile optimized site, native applications and other career related content.

iMomentous found something that isn’t quite surprising to those inside the business world. Most Fortune 500 companies are simply not that well optimized for mobile interaction. Of the rather large group, 182 companies have no mobile presence at all or provide a negative job candidate experience. One major problem for mobile job seekers is that 60 percent of Fortune 500 company sites do not redirect to their mobile job application sites.

Obviously, there are some companies that have managed to adapt to mobile browsing. McDonald’s is one company that realizes mobile is important. There aren’t enough companies on the list that are following suit.
