Yulong Coolpad's New Phone Has a Marvell 4G LTE Modem

Marvell, a company responsible for producing innovative communications hardware, has recently announced that Yulong Coolpad's new high-performance smartphone will have its 4G LTE modem. Marvell's modem allows the Yulong Coolpad 8736 phone to become one of the first smartphones with 4G LTE connection capabilities to be certified by China Mobile, a Chinese state-owned telecommunications provider.

Weili Dai, co-founder and president of Marvell, said about the new phone's release, “I believe this coming year is a big year for 4G LTE deployment for the global mass market. I am extremely excited to see China Mobile's leadership in 4G LTE technology and Yulong Coolpad launching a 4G LTE smartphone with Marvell in China. This is a major milestone in our collaboration with global operators and OEMs to empower the world's consumers with high-performance 4G LTE products. I am very proud to see our effort and innovation in our advanced 4G LTE solution which has made a numer of significant contributions to the high-tech industry. I would like to congratulate Yulong Coolpad for successfully launching this product to address the growing mass market for 4G LTE, and I am very thankful to the passionate and dedicated Yulong Coolpad and Marvell engineering teams for their hard work and dedication.”

At this point, Marvell has been a monumental provider of TD-SCDMA (short for Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) hardware for China Mobile, which is an air interface that allows UMTS mobile data communications. China needs this technology to allow telecommunications on its networks, as opposed to Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA).

And now, Marvell has come out with a Time Division Long-term Evolution (TD-LTE) technology to correspond with China's networks and allow manufacturers to introduce phones able to communicate within this high-bandwidth environment. The solution, known as the ARMADA PXA 1802 platform, will let China Mobile upgrade its networks without having to make significant changes to its antenna ecosystem.

At this point, Yulong's first 4G LTE smartphone certified for use in China Mobile's network has debuted and is now available for the telecommunications provider's customers.
