Comings & Goings: Hipcricket Promotes Alan Sultan to Chief Strategy Officer Position

Headquartered in Bellevue, Wash. is Hipcricket Inc., a U.S. Mobile Advertising and Marketing Company with offices also in other major U.S. cities (New York, Atlanta and Chicago). The company targets businesses in many industries and offers solutions that help achieve maximum mobile engagement and boost clients’ loyalty and sales. Hipcricket was recently nominated by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce for an Eastside Business Award for “Most Innovative Product or Service of the Year.” This award recognizes companies for their commitment to quality, community and innovation.

As per a recent MarketWatch post, Hipcricket has announced, recently, the promotion of former senior vice president of business development, Alan Sultan, to chief strategy officer. He has 20 years of experience leveraging emerging technologies and joined Hipcricket in January 2012. Prior to these assignments, Sultan was the founder and president of Acuity Mobile, a company that applied analytics to the mobile market; after the successful acquisition of the company by Nokia, he became Nokia General Manager of Enterprise Mobile Marketing Solutions.

At Hipcricket, he will be responsible for marketing and strategic positioning as well as business & corporate development.  He will plan and oversee mobile advertising and marketing with the goal of increasing revenues as well as customer engagement and alliances. Hipcricket already has partnerships with many industry leaders: Oracle, Neustar and IBM for example.

Alan Sultan joins a team of seasoned professionals that include CEO Ivan Braiker, co-founder of Hipcricket, who has 30 years of experience in broadcast media. Chief Operating Officer, Doug Stovall has 15 years of mobile industry experience and has already worked with Sultan when he was the Vice President of Sales at Acuity Mobile. Sultan’s promotion follows the recent reassignment of David Hostetter , a professional with 20 years of experience as mobile technology innovator, from senior vice president of engineering to Chief Technology Officer, and the promotion of Kate Farley to senior vice president of business operations.

According to Doug Stovall, Sultan "brings the right talents, experiences and leadership to this new role which will help to drive our future corporate direction and thought-leadership in the mobile advertising and marketing space." He mentions also that investing in this new position is a strategic move by the company that signals how it is committed “to energize its marketing organization and ensure optimum positioning and packaging for its suite of mobile engagement solutions.” Hipcricket management believes, in fact, that Sultan’s “innovative thinking and vision will continue to enhance the growth and profitability of the company."

Sultan’s experience and innovative drive is expected to be the perfect fit for the new position in a company that, as Ivan Braiker mentions, “prides itself on its ability to make every client campaign unique and as innovative as possible.”
