Accenture Positioned as 'Leader' in Mobile App Services Space

IT services company Accenture has been positioned as a “Leader” in IDC’s latest vendor assessment report of the worldwide mobile application development, testing, management and infrastructure (mADTMI) services space. Accenture was granted this honor for earning high marks in several key areas, including its global delivery capability and level of R&D investment.

This news comes shortly after the announcement of a major partnership between Accenture and Orange Business Services under which both companies will offer improved cloud computing products to their customers.

For its report, IDC assessed 14 organizations that offer mADTMI services to enterprise-class firms. The study represents a vendor assessment of providers offering enterprise mADTMI services through the IDC MarketScape model, which includes a balanced group of criteria. In particular, this assessment reviews both quantitative and qualitative characteristics that define current market demands and expected buyer needs.

The specific criteria that led to Accenture being positioned as a “Leader” include its global delivery capability, its use of “mostly commercially available tools” for the building, testing and management of mobile apps, and its level of R&D investment into its mobile app development practice. Additionally, Accenture’s customers stated that the company excels in a “variety of business and technical know-how areas” while demonstrating an ability to establish strong partnership bonds with clients.

“Our designation as a leader in this report is a reflection of the business value we deliver every day to our clients around the world,” said Jin Lee, senior managing director at Accenture Mobility, in a statement. “As applications continue to become an increasingly important and complex component of our clients’ mobility strategies, we’re able to work together with them throughout the application lifecycle, from ideation to build and ongoing performance management. Our proven app testing capabilities are also of growing significance to clients, as end-to-end testing is a requirement of a successful Connected Devices strategy.”
