IBM Makes a Mark in the World of Mobile Consulting and Technology Services

The usage of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets has increased by leaps and bounds during the last few years. To reach the growing mobile customer base, companies are developing new products or partnering with companies that have specialized mobile consulting divisions.

One of the companies that specialize in mobile consulting and technology services is IBM. During the last few years, IBM acquired more than ten mobile-related businesses, and filed for 270 patents in the world of wireless technology and innovation. The idea behind this business strategy is to streamline mobile consulting services across different industries, and increase mobile acceleration around the world. To become a leader in this field, IBM created a new division called IBM MobileFirst. Through this division, IBM provides a range of mobile services such as flexible access to enterprise data and applications, support for BYOD, management and optimization of applications for mobile devices, ability to adhere to the guidelines related to mobile security compliance, creation and deployment of mobile applications and extension of enterprise data and service to mobile devices.

IBM MobileFirst  has helped companies across different sectors to make the most of mobile applications and devices. In recognition of this service, IBM was named as a leader in the new MarketScape Worldwide Mobile Application Development, Testing, Management, and Infrastructure (mADTMI) services by IDC. This award was given to IBM after IDC evaluated 14 companies with 117 different criteria that included technical expertise in mobile services, professionalism, customer service, project management capabilities and punctuality.

This recognition by IDC is another feather in IBM's cap, and is likely to provide an edge in the mobile services industry as it looks to reach out to more companies around the world.
