NETGEAR Introduces World's First Unlocked 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot

Consumers around the world now have more connectivity options available to them. Whether it is fixed or wireless broadband, it is now possible to get reliable connection without the off and on connectivity issues of the past. Even though the service is readily available, operators have strict regulations when it comes to delivering their services. NETGEAR has introduced the world’s first unlocked 4G LTE mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi. This gives consumers the freedom to choose any service provider because it is not automatically tied to any company.

The  NETGEAR AirCard 785 4G LTE delivers greater range and performance in areas where access to fixed broadband infrastructure may be limited. The AirCard supports multiple languages, displays data usage, and enables dual-band Wi-Fi sharing options simultaneously with up to 15 Wi-Fi devices. Laptops, tablets, smartphones, digital cameras, gaming consoles, or other WiFi-enabled devices can share a single mobile broadband connection to securely connect to the built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless access point using the 2.4GHz for greater range and performance and the 5GHz to minimize interference from nearby devices.

It can also be used as the primary Internet source at home when it is connected to the company’s LTE Boosting Cradle with Ethernet. When cradled, it can be used as a4G LTE modem that acts as an alternate Internet connection for high performance Wi-Fi router for fail-over connection during emergencies or peak usage hours.

Because the device is unlocked, it is not automatically tied to a service plan from wireless service providers. This allows the user to choose virtually any service provider without having to commit to a long-term service contract. However, if the customer wants a monthly service they can purchase a data plan from a provider of their choice. Once the plan is purchased all you have to do is plug in the SIM card and start using the AirCard.

Key features of the NETGEAR AirCard 785 4G LTE include:

  • 4G LTE/3G/2G support
  • Data usage monitoring
  • NETGEAR AirCard App compatible
  • Up to 10 hours of battery life
  • Color LCD display
  • Guest WiFi access
  • Multi-language support
  • Accessories for the AirCard 785 4G LTE mobile hotspot

“We want you to have a variety of options for enjoying the best networking experience possible, regardless of which wireless service provider you use. As a result, we’re introducing the European retail market to a new, unlocked NETGEAR AirCard mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band WiFi to support an improved streaming experience and greater range,” said David Henry, vice president of product management and engineering for the NETGEAR Retail Business Unit.

The device will be available throughout Europe in October.
