MobileIron and Tangoe Collaborate on New EMM/MMS Solution to Sharpen Mobility Strategies

The rise of mobile technology has unlocked many opportunities for individuals and companies alike, but in the latter case it has proven difficult for many businesses to adopt a mobility strategy that effectively takes advantage of these benefits without sacrificing efficiency or security. In response to this need a market has evolved for mobility managed services (MMS) and enterprise mobility management (EMM).

MobileIron and Tangoe have entered a partnership in which the two companies will jointly develop a solution that combines MobileIron’s MMS offerings with Tangoe’s EMM technology. Customers that deploy these IT and process management services will then have the ability to acquire, provision and support corporate mobile devices while increasing efficiency and lowering expenses.

The joint solution will provide a comprehensive, centralized set of tools for customers looking to effectively manage all aspects of their mobility strategy and put an IT team in complete control of their mobile communications infrastructure to prevent unauthorized access. Data regarding usage, security, policies and expenses is easily accessible and can be used to identify areas ripe for improvement as well as fine-tune the decision making process. Furthermore, the solution will automate many processes and streamline others to ensure more efficient operations and help direct the customer’s focus toward their core business.

“As mobile becomes the de facto IT computing platform, we find many companies wanting to focus on how mobility can transform their businesses, and not focus on what’s required to plan, deploy, operate, and maintain their mobility,” said Al Subbloie, President and CEO of Tangoe. “The collaboration between Tangoe and MobileIron is especially powerful to our vision of expanding our global managed mobility solution and services to deliver customers a fully integrated solution designed to optimize and manage the complete lifecycle of mobile enterprise communications.”

“Mobile is by far the most challenging technology that companies deal with. The pace of change is relentless and delivering security and innovation at enterprise scale is really hard,” said Bob Tinker, CEO of MobileIron. “Our partnership with Tangoe brings together our strong enterprise mobility management (EMM) with the Tangoe’s strong MMS offering and the biggest beneficiaries are our customers.”

In addition to streamlining business operations and cutting costs, the joint solution will enable enhanced security and policy enforcement features. Complete flexibility of deployment and scalability ensures customers will be able to integrate the solution in a way that best suits their needs, even as they progress over time.

Under the terms of this partnership, Tangoe will also resell MobileIron’s EMM software for those that don’t need the comprehensive joint solution. The collaborative solution is expected to launch sometime this year.
