5 Things You Must Know How to Do With Your iPhone

If you're like most people, you probably reach for your phone dozens of times a day. But even with your phone so close at hand, there may be some secrets inside that you haven't yet unlocked. If you want to get the best performance out of your iPhone, it's time to learn a little bit about the impressive hidden features you may be missing out on. Here are some of the top things you should know how to do with your iPhone.

Boost Your Speaker Volume

If your speakers just aren't loud enough, the iPhone offers a convenient setting for getting the extra volume you want. Simply go to the Settings app and select Music then EQ. On that page, you'll see an option for Late Night. Click on it to enjoy blasting your music just a bit louder or hearing your favorite podcast better from across the room.

Use the Keyboard as a Trackpad

Those who miss the convenience of a mouse when using their iPhone may be surprised to learn that the phone actually has one built right in. If you touch and hold your iPhone keyboard, it will turn into a cursor that you can manually move around the screen. Simply drag your finger until you get to the exact spot you want to click on. Using your iPhone keyboard as a trackpad is a great way to edit text, browse the internet, or utilize certain apps.

Search Photos by Subject

Have you ever found yourself endlessly scrolling through your photo gallery so you can show your friend an especially cute picture of your pet? There's a hack for the iPhone Photos app that can solve your problem swiftly. Just use the search icon at the top, and you can type in whatever it is you're searching for, whether that's photos of your dog, your recent vacation, or a burrito. The app will quickly populate with all your applicable photos, so you can find precisely what you're looking for in just a few seconds.

Reset Your Phone

Software issues can occasionally cause your phone to act up. If that happens and a simple restart doesn't fix the issue, consider resetting your iPhone. This will erase all your settings, apps, and personal info (contacts, photos, logins, etc.), so be sure to back up everything before you get started. Then, go to the Settings app and tap on General and then Reset. Under Reset, tap on Erase All Content and Settings.

Once you're done, your iPhone will be like it just came out of the box, allowing you to set it up again from scratch. It's important to remember how to reset your iPhone, so you can bypass software issues or prepare your phone for a new owner when you're ready to upgrade to a new model.

Locate Your Phone

Losing your phone is devastating, but if you know how to take advantage of the Find My iPhone feature, you'll have a better chance of getting it back quickly. This setting allows you to track your phone if someone steals it or you misplace it. As long as the device still has some type of internet connection, you'll be able to see exactly where it is in real time, so you can find a lost iPhone.

To set it up, go to the Settings app and tap on your Apple ID at the top. Choose iCloud and then tap the switch to enable Find My iPhone. If you lose your iPhone, go on a computer, and visit iCloud.com. Once you log in, click on Find iPhone. Your device will show up on a map, and you'll be able play a tone, so you can find it if you're nearby.

If your phone is farther away, you can put it in lost mode, which shows a phone number on the screen, so people can call to alert you if they find it. If you want to protect your private data, you can also choose to remotely delete everything on the phone.
