LTE Technology to Complement the Growth of Mobile Broadband, Frost & Sullivan Predicts

Through a press release, the global growth partnership company, Frost & Sullivan announced last week that its Information and Communication Technologies Practice will be hosting an Analyst Briefing titled “The Fourth Generation (4G) – LTE to Drive the Growth of Mobile Broadband,” on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. IST time.

The growth of smartphones has been dramatic in the recent years. This created high demand for data intensive applications. According Frost & Sullivan, the mobile operators are in the immediate need to upgrade their network infrastructure, which will enable them to offer high-speed data services to the consumers.

In order to be able to handle the surge in data traffic, the mobile operator worldwide, according to the research firm, are planning to move to 4G technologies, and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and LTE are the most preferred  4G technologies among the mobile operators globally.

The Frost & Sullivan Analyst Briefing will examine this trend with respect to emerging markets in South Asia and Middle East, with a key focus on India, Saudi Arabia and UAE. The session was to evaluate readiness of these telecom markets in embracing LTE technology. In the release, Frost & Sullivan said that highlights of the Analyst Briefing will include analyses of Growth of Mobile Broadband, Drivers and Restraints of LTE technology and key operator announcements regarding deployment of LTE technology.

All the parts of LTE ecosystem such as Mobile Operators, Telecom Equipment Vendors, Device Manufacturers (OEM’s), Chipset Manufacturers and also Investment Analysts are likely to benefit from these types of briefing sessions.

In the release, Frost & Sullivan pointed out that LTE technology comes with a few unique benefits. LTE technology offers lower operating costs for mobile data transfer. This explains why the mobile operators worldwide are progressively committing themselves to LTE network deployments as a path for moving towards Fourth Generation (4G) services.

Recently LTE technology has been launched in the Europe and the USA. This, Frost & Sullivan maintained will help device and service ecosystem to mature. With the maturity of technology, LTE is likely to gain further momentum in other markets across the globe, particularly in Asia Pacific and Middle East.

Earlier this month Frost and Sullivan announced that all Western European countries have targets aimed at boosting the contribution of renewable energy. Such high use of renewable energy is possible through efficient energy storage methods, creating huge opportunities for market growth.
