China Unicom Partners with Syniverse Team to Enhance Mobile Subscriber Experience

China Unicom, United Network Communications Group Company, announced that it has partnered with Syniverse, provider of roaming, messaging, and networking solutions, to help enhance the end-user experience for domestic and international subscribers of China Unicom, as the company prepares to migrate from 3G to 4G. Under the terms of the partnership, China Unicom will deploy a number of Syniverse solutions which include the Syniverse IP-based network and SCCP Signaling Gateway along with RoamMonitor, Visibility Services and VisProactive (tools providing real-time intelligence), and Financial Clearing House and Syniverse DataNet to enhance roaming capabilities.

In a release, Jeff Gordon, President and CEO, Syniverse, said, “China Unicom’s continued investments in high-quality network interconnect and real-time intelligence tools demonstrate the importance of enabling the best possible global experience for its subscribers. The mobile paradigm has shifted to revolve around the real-time demands of the end user for immediate, consistent connectivity via everything from voice to video, text to social networking. China Unicom has the future-proof backbone in place to propel its subscribers to the latest technologies that deliver the optimum mobile experience.”

Both Visibility Services and VisProactive, real-time intelligence tools form Syniverse, have been designed to increase visibility for the operator's network and also of the network that the company’s subscribers employ for roaming capabilities. This helps the operator address any issues quickly and well in advance. The RoamMonitor, also provide real-time intelligence delivers data usage alerts across home and visited networks to individual subscribers, allowing them to make decisions which can help in avoiding unexpected charges. This is one of ways in which China Unicom is expecting to improve subscriber experience and to lower bad debt. The SCCP Gateway solution will help China Unicom make a smooth shift from the older SS7 technologies to LTE through a single provider
