Jungo announces USB networking solution for STBs

Sep 09, 2010 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- Jungo Ltd, a provider of connectivity software and driver development tools, today announced the availability of a TV set-top box (STB) USB Collectivity software solution which can be used to extend the active life of a STB by connecting it to any home or wireless network via a USB.

The company said that a USB port is standard on the majority of new STBs and its solution will enable boxes without built in network connectivity to support new revenue generating services including Video on Demand (VOD), video streaming, broadcast-Internet convergence and interactive services that require a return path.

The Jungo solution includes the USB software for the STB, WiFi protocols and 3G connectivity and can be used with a WiFi dongle to connect the STB to a home network or with a 3G USB modem.

The company gave no details of the cost of its solution.
