China Mobile to Launch TD-LTE Smartphones This YearBEIJING, Jul 06, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Vice general manager of China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL and SEHK: 0941) disclosed on July 5 that the company will launch 4G smartphones in the market this year. The vice general manager stated that China Mobile will launch more than ten 4G smartphone models by the first half of next year. The number is expected to exceed 100 by 2014, which will include Apple smartphones. According to the statements, China Mobile will launch the construction of TD-LTE (one of 4G technology standards) experimental network with expanded scale, and will construct more than 20,000 TD-LTE base stations. TD-LTE is the evolution of domestic 3G technology, TD-SCDMA, and has been determined as one of the international 4G standards by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at present.
