Softbank Corp. Discusses with China Mobile on TD-LTE Roaming


BEIJING, Jul 06, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Ted Matsumoto, chief strategy officer (CSO) and board member of Softbank Corporation, stated recently that the company is negotiating with China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL and SEHK: 0941) on TD-LTE roaming service in China and Japan.



The CSO disclosed that Softbank Corp. has accelerated the construction and deployment of TD-LTE network since the beginning of the year and now has more than 100,000 users. Currently, the company has deployed 7,000 TD-LTE base stations. The number is expected to reach about 10,000 by the end of the year. The company aims to realize 92% of the population coverage of its TD-LTE network in Japan.

Softbank Corp. will cooperate with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to launch the first TD-LTE-based smartphone model this October or November.
