The ZigBee Alliance, a global ecosystem of companies producing wireless solutions, announced that it has crossed the 100th ZigBee certified product milestone. A recent report of ON World said that ZigBee has been adopted by more than 350 global manufacturers with revenues of more than $1 trillion.

The ZigBee Alliance is a global ecosystem of companies, which offers wireless solutions suitable for energy management, commercial and consumer applications. The increase in popularity and demand for innovative ZigBee products helped achieve this level, said official sources.

ZigBee solutions are preferred in the energy, commercial and consumer electronic marketplaces. The alliance includes 400 members across a wide spectrum of industries. It has succeeded in providing an open-standard for product manufacturers desirous of offering consumers smarter and greener products that feature easy-to-use control capabilities.

The innovative products include ZigBee Smart Energy, which is a core technology for monitoring, controlling, and automating the delivery and smart use of energy and water to help consumers live a greener lifestyle. There are around 64 ZigBee Certified products available today, including products covering energy service portals, meters, displays, programmable communicating thermostats and smart plugs.

The ZigBee Home Automation products feature easy-to-use controls and the do-it-yourself and professional installers can easily help create smart homes. These smart homes give consumers more control of home appliances, lighting, security, heating and cooling systems, thereby reducing energy consumption, said ZigBee sources.

ZigBee Telecom Services enables delivery of value-added services suited for mobile network operators, businesses and government agencies. There are about 13 ZigBee Certified products that can offer different communication platforms, access points, terminals and location nodes.

“ZigBee has entered a new adoption phase made possible by years of groundwork and investment by our members,” said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance.

“With our leading smart home standards and continued strong growth in ZigBee Certified products, ZigBee is truly enabling a new era of smart control for consumers and businesses,” Heile added.

ZigBee specializes in offering green and global wireless standards for connecting a range of devices to work together intelligently. The ZigBee Alliance is an open, non-profit association of about 400 members driving development of innovative, reliable and easy-to-use ZigBee standards. The alliance promotes the adoption of ZigBee as a wireless network, sensing and control standard for use in consumer, commercial and industrial areas.
