A full spectrum of new enhancements to its video surveillance system has been announced by Apprion. Safety, security, compliance and operational conditions in manufacturing and industrial facilities can be remotely monitored and analyzed by Apprion’s enhanced video surveillance system, ION WiMAX (News - Alert) Video. A wider, sharper, longer and smarter focus has been now included in ION WiMAX Video. Apart from reducing hazards and accidents; safety, security and productivity can be also improved. The time and cost of corrective remedial actions can be also minimized.

All facility conditions can be surveyed continuously or when triggered by key events or motion by this fourth-generation of the ION Video system. Operators can survey these conditions in the safety of remote control rooms. By utilizing wider bandwidth, longer distances can be surveyed with greater video clarity. Apart from better real-time performance and diagnosis; indexing and archiving capabilities are also provided. Past events can be quickly pinpointed or reconstructed from multiple camera angles.

In a release, Warren Smith, VP, Products, Apprion, said, "The introduction of ION WiMAX Video shows that we continue to invent, innovate and enhance our growing portfolio of wireless applications that improve the safety, security and operational efficiency of industrial environments in the manufacturing industry. Facilities in the process manufacturing sector continue to age at the same time that regulatory mandates increase and operations become more technologically complex."

According to Smith, these industries are therefore able to cost-effectively minimize risk and maximize productivity with the latest and best industrial solutions.

A wider bandwidth capability with 45 Mbps of throughput and up to 65,000 Packets per Second is now utilized by ION WiMAX Video. By utilizing the licensed 3.65 GHz frequency, ION WiMAX avoids the crowded 802.11 air space. Video can be managed, monitored, viewed, alerted and recorded by ION WiMAX irrespective of the backhaul link. ION WiMAX seamlessly integrates with Apprion's ION System for the same. An open and extensible platform has been used to build the ION WiMAX Video application. Indexing of all video activity from various cameras linked to the ION System is readily and instantly available. Environmental conditions, track assets or VoIP audio communications can be therefore monitored by operators.
