Reputed provider of high definition wireless solutions, BridgeWave (News - Alert) Communications, recently announced the deployment of its high capacity links in the WiMAX framework of Kulacom. Kulacom’s uses BridgeWave’s AdaptRate 80 GHz solution, AR80X, to provide its consumers in Jordan and Bahrain, a dependable and top quality backhaul solution for enhanced WiMAX (News - Alert) accessibility to support its VoIP and data services.

Founded in 2006, Kulacom delivers voice and Internet applications to developing markets. Their Jordan operations obtained a 3.6 GHz frequency license last year in January, putting the company on the threshold of the wireless next generation technology. The solutions from the stables of the company, include among others, point-to-point IP connectivity, VoIP and data hosting services. More recently, Kulacom Jordan extended its bouquet of services to include WiMAX internet, enabling users to access to continuous, quick and dependable connectivity solutions.

As a result of this, Kulacom found itself needing a solid backhaul system to support the expanding WiMAX broadband infrastructure. A wireless solution was ultimately preferred because of its quick deployment versus traditional fiber trenching; this was in line with the express installation agenda that Kulacom had planned.

With winning the bid for the 3.6 GHz frequency license, Kulacom had to compulsorily provide its Internet connectivity solutions in a timely manner. To this end, Kulacom did extensive research into the prominent wireless vendors and narrowed down the list to 12 companies. BridgeWave’s solutions were put through comprehensive testing procedures and were selected based on their superiority in performance and up-time.

The deployment was begun without further delays and it brought together several disparate base stations to core network, delivering smooth Internet accessibility to end users. AR80X links were purchased for both Bahrain and Jordan locations. Installation was hassle-free and since the deployment, Kulacom has been able to achieve a solid WiMAX framework based on BridgeWave’s AR80X offering.

The AR80X links have been able to brave the unfavorable weather conditions in the region and have not reported any chinks to date. This has been mainly due to the system being able to transition to 100Mbs data transfer rates during heavy rains for a highly accessible link. This technology enables Kulacom honor its service level agreement (SLA) with each consumer and guarantees dependable service without any down-time. BridgeWave’s 80 GHz solutions make provision for current data too along with future applications; this can facilitate any expansion plans Kulacom has for the future.
