Many WiMAX (

started to realize that iMAT antennas from SkyCross are essential to offer optimal performance and to reduce build-out costs. The WiMAX solution from
SkyCross helps client devices perform at a level that will improve the capacity, data rates and reliability of the entire WiMAX network.
Juniper Research (
News -
Alert) has predicted huge growth potential for WiMAX with more than 50 million WiMAX users expected in 2014. However, its adoption depends on meeting and exceeding WiMAX users’ expectations for a 4G network. WiMAX users require fast seamless connection to be available on any mobile device, whether it’s a MID, USB dongle, smartphone, netbook, notebook or other gadget.
Higher data rates, increased network capacity and better reliability for end users will be made possible in part by the multiple-input, multiple-outputcomponent of the WIMAX specification. Even though mobile devices that support MIMO will typically have multiple resonators, space constraints and interference issues make this a difficult implementation challenge. SkyCross iMAT antennas address the challenge by allowing a single antenna element to behave like multiple optimized antennas, which streamlines the integration process, enables sleeker designs, and also lowers cost when compared to non-iMAT antennas.
It has been proven through several independent tests that iMAT delivers superior performance. The active field tests conducted by Intel (

According to Joe Gifford, vice president at SkyCross, operators can boost system performance by providing network devices with an iMAT antenna from SkyCross. There is no need to build more towers or implement other expensive techniques. This has resulted in many global WiMAX operators insisting that their suppliers use iMAT antennas.
iMAT helps a single antenna structure behave like multiple antennas through the use of multiple feed points. Each feed will access the antenna as if it consisted of multiple antennas, each with high isolation, low correlation, and high per-feed antenna efficiency. iMAT initially appeared in the first USB dongle certified by the WiMAX Forum (

Alert). SkyCross has delivered antennas for the first client device offered on the Sprint XoHM network in Baltimore.
A global wireless company, SkyCross provides antenna-centric radio-frequency solutions for mobile phone, home entertainment and computing industries. The patented, protocol-independent, frequency agile technologies from SkyCross help the delivery of advanced voice, data, video and location services to a wide range of very small devices.
