Alvarion Wins Two WiMAX Deals Abroad

Alert) Ltd. today announced new wins with Clearwire International LLC and Kenyan mobile services provider Safaricom.

Alert) International, a holding entity of Clearwire Corp., has tapped Alvarion to equip it with a mobile WiMAX 802.16e solution for a deployment in Spain. Under the agreement, Alvarion will supply its 4Motion Mobile WiMAX 802.16e solution that incorporates the WiMAX Forum (

Alert) Certified BreezeMAX platform for the 3.5 GHz frequency band. Clearwire plans to use the gear to launch 4G services to enable high-speed Internet, VoIP and video to consumers and businesses starting next year in select urban areas.
As for the Safaricom deal, Alvarion has been awarded a three-year turnkey contract to provide its BreezeMAX solution, also at the 3.5 GHz frequency band.
Safaricom is the largest mobile carrier in Kenya and East Africa, and provides integrated data and voice communication solutions.
