Alert) and wireless broadband solutions, announced recently that it has been selected by
Adam Internet to deploy a WiMAX network across metropolitan Adelaide, Australia.
Adam Internet a South Australian company based in Adelaide with over 20 years experience as an Internet Service Provider. Reportedly, the company is building a wireless broadband network as part of the Australian government's
Broadband Guarantee Program aimed at providing services to all Australian residents. The network, as stated, will deliver high-speed broadband services to subscribers across an approximate 5,000 square kilometer area of metropolitan Adelaide.
“Adam Internet aims to bring broadband services to people and businesses who are faced with a very limited choice in the market today. WiMAX offers a high-capacity network that is quick to deploy and very economical to operate,” said Greg Hicks, chairman of Adam Internet, in a release.

The Australian Broadband Guarantee program is aimed at offering all Australian residents with access to broadband services that reasonably compare to broadband services available in metropolitan areas. The program is said to provide qualifying applicants with a subsidy connect to this service. The South Australian State Government is said to have provided seed funding to assist this infrastructure build.
Reportedly, Alvarion is working closely with Adam Internet and is expecting the completion of deployment in 14 wireless service areas in about one year providing aximum coverage across metropolitan Adelaide. Moreover, the company is also expecting that up to 55,000 residential and business premises will benefit from the provision of this service.
WiMAX technology enables lower cost high speed broadband data applications over extended coverage areas for many types of business models. Alvarion claims its WiMAX solutions are very widely deployed all over the world in over 100 countries.
