The next-generation Slate PC product line with embedded 4G mobile broadband connectivity was announced by First International Computer, Inc. also known as FIC, a company which deals in the design and production of computer motherboards, PC systems, notebooks, Industrial PC, mobile solutions, and other electronic devices. The new product line is based on BCSM250 4G-WiMAX single-chip solution from Beceem (News - Alert), provider of 4G semiconductors.

A new product line of ultra-connected FIC computing and entertainment platforms that are designed to take advantage of the rapidly growing global 4G footprint will be bought in with the launch of the new FIC Slate PC at the Computex show this year. This will mark the launch of first of many 4G mobile broadband slates and handheld devices by FIC.

Alex Dee, vice president of marketing for FIC said, “FIC and 4G are a match made in heaven. FIC is a constant innovator in the computing and consumer electronics field, and being able to embed 4G connectivity into our state-of-the-art devices is going to be a key differentiator for our products.”

Dee added the company chose to align with Beceem after careful evaluation of the different 4G product offerings and suppliers. Another reason for choosing Beceem was that the single-chip solution of Beceem will allow FIC to ship into the fast-growing 4G network footprint globally. FIC also believes that Beceem’s upcoming BCS500 multi-mode 4G WiMAX/LTE (News - Alert) chip would be ideal to allow the company to build future Slate PCs that can seamlessly connect to the global 4G network footprint, independent of the underlying network being based on WiMAX or LTE.

Lars Johnsson (News - Alert), vice president of marketing for Beceem Communications said, “FIC’s Slate PC is going to be a showstopper at Computex. Equipped with all the innovative features of a state-of-the-art computing platform, it is the embedded 4G mobile broadband capability that really sets it apart from other ‘PADs’ and Slates.”

Johnsson added that Beceem believes in FIC to be a key partner with the capability and foresight to build industry-defining products. The company is excited that FIC has recognized the unique performance and feature capabilities of its products and roadmap to become its long-term 4G connectivity partner.
