Kyte Launches Online Video Platform to Enable Wireless Live Broadcasting

Mar 15, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Kyte, an online, mobile, and social video platform for live and on-demand content, announced the release of Kyte LivePro Unwired, an add-on component to the Kyte Platform that enables professional, near HD-quality live video streaming from a battery-operated wireless backpack.

With Kyte LivePro Unwired, which uses wireless backpack technology provided by LiveU, Kyte noted that content producers can take advantage of the existing and growing wireless 3G/4G and Wi-Fi infrastructure to report events as they happen in real time without having to rely on limited landline infrastructure and complex, time-intensive setup. Kyte LivePro Unwired also allows producers to leverage the cross-platform distribution, engagement and monetization features of the Kyte Platform.

"SPIN is looking forward to sampling this new technology at SXSW, with an eye toward using it as a complement to our extensive year-round festival coverage on spin.com and spinearth.tv. We are always looking for new ways to serve our online community, as well as our clients", said Mike Albanese, Associate Publisher of SPIN.

As described by Kyte, individual camera operators and video journalists can arrive on location and immediately start live streaming content via the Kyte Platform without having to worry about the cost and complexity of satellite hook-ups. They only need the Kyte LivePro Unwired backpack unit, and any video camera that supports IEEE 1394 (FireWire) output. Video can be live-streamed directly to any online Kyte Player and also made available for on-demand online and mobile viewing.

"As we've seen with a number of recent news events, the cycle of reporting is getting smaller and the public is thirsty for footage from places that would be impossible or costly to access through traditional broadcast means," said Daniel Graf, CEO of Kyte.

"Kyte LivePro Unwired gives content producers an edge over the competition by making it easy and cost effective to broadcast high quality live video to online audiences. Also, unlike other live streaming solutions, any content created on the Kyte Platform can seamlessly be made available on-demand to both online and mobile audiences, significantly increasing the value and life of any event," Graf said.

Kyte is headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., with offices in New York, London, Hamburg, and Zurich. Customers include ABC, Armani Exchange, Clear Channel, ESPN, Fox News, HomeAway, MTV, Monster Energy, NATO, NBA Digital, Nokia, Tyra Banks, and others.
