ChinaTel to Lay out WiMAX in 29 Chinese Cities

The US ChinaTel is preparing to lay out WiMAX network based on 802.16e in 29 cities in Mainland China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen by virtue of 3.5GHz frequency spectrum of CECT-Chinacomm, according to foreign media.
ChinaTel is to carry out the layout in the first 12 cities including Qingdao, Chongqing, Harbin, Xi'an, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Wuhan, and Kunming, which is predicted to complete in June 2011. the phase II project will cover Dalian, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Jinan, Fuzhou, Changsha, Haikou, Ningbo, Changchun, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Zhengzhou, Nanning, Guiyang, Lanzhou, and guiyang, which is predicted to start construction in 2014.
ChinaTel, a merger between Mortlock and Trussnet, provides engineering, deployment, and operations services related to the development of wireless broadband telecommunications networks. The company believed that it will gain more frequency spectrum resources from the Chinese government in the future, on basis of current 20MHz frequency spectrum resources.
