Trilithic Updates 860 DSPi Communication Test Equipment Firmware

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

When it comes to its communication test equipment, the importance of keeping each test tool updated with the latest firmware functions and inoperability is essential for its users, especially when in the field.

Trilithic certainly complies with the latest regulations and compliance rules in addition to providing its customers with the most up-to-date firmware for all of its communication test and backhaul equipment.

The 860 DSPi portable field analyzer is one example of Trilithic’s test tools that has recently been upgraded. The 860 DSPi is a cable analyzer and CATV meter that performs transmission and signal quality tests for analog and digital HSD and VoIP services. The test tool allows users to use a single instrument for all the critical transmission and signal quality tests you need to install and maintain analog, digital, HSD and VoIP, without the pauses and boot-up delays of other field analyzers. And for workers on the go, the importance of minimizing the amount of tools needed to travel with is key.

Aside from providing users with a versatile solution while in the field, DSP technology also allows users to update or upgrade the device with a simple Internet download regardless of their location. The 860 DSPi can be easily upgraded for new applications, right in the field, or add powerful options like high-resolution spectrum analysis, QAM and QPSK constellation displays and a wide range of return path tests, all without impacting size or weight.

Depending on what version of the 860 DSPi firmware you are currently using, your upgrade may be different. If you are upgrading from firmware between v 6.2.1.1 to v 10.4.1.2 you must upgrade to 860 DSPi firmware v 11.4.1.2 first. The upgrades include v11.12.8.2, v11.10.10.2, v11.8.25.2 and v11.4.1.2.

For example, the updated v.11.12.8.2 firmware provides improved speed upon entering the UP-LD menu and approved WiFi (News - Alert) login that allows for Com net speed to be set at 100 Mbps. It also reduces DOCSIS 3 8x4 modem booth time by five seconds and adds DOCSIS 3 8x4 modem firmware version on CMStat menu and dual modem support.
