Michael Dell to Receive CEA's Digital Patriots Award at March 27 Dinner

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA(R)) today announced that Michael Dell, chairman of Dell Inc., will receive the 2007 Digital Patriot Award for his lifelong contributions to furthering technological innovation and advancing the consumer electronics industry. Dell will receive the award in person at CEA's Digital Patriots Dinner on March 27, 2007.

The Digital Patriots Dinner is part of the CEA Washington Forum - formerly known as the Entertainment Technology and Policy Summit - which will be held March 26-28, 2007, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. CEA created the Digital Patriots awards program in 2005 to recognize and celebrate industry and government leaders who fight for the freedom to innovate and change the world through digital technology.

"Michael Dell has changed access to consumer technology through his incredible vision, persistence and unwavering dedication," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. "Michael is an industry pioneer who continuously fights for innovation, and we are honored to recognize him as a true Digital Patriot for his commitment to technology."

Michael Dell founded Dell in 1984, with the revolutionary idea of building relationships directly with consumers, and has since positioned the company to sell more systems globally than any other computer company. Under Dell's leadership, Dell remains the leading technology supplier and partner, selling a comprehensive portfolio of products directly to corporations and consumers worldwide. In 1992, he became the youngest CEO ever of a company to earn a ranking on the Fortune 500.

The 2007 CEA Washington Forum will focus on key issues affecting the consumer electronics industry including public policy challenges and consumer related issues. The Forum will include conference sessions, panel discussions and the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers (DTV Academy) Awards, as well as CEA membership division meetings and networking opportunities. Registration details and additional programming information will be available online at www.CE.org/events as the event approaches.
