Card Scanning Solutions and Clearware Help Insurance Companies Improve Efficiency, Lower Cost

Card Scanning Solutions, a leading developer of image processing solutions, recently announced that its Medicscan OCR technology helps insurance companies to improve revenue, lower claims denials and eliminate bad debt.

With CSSN’s Medicscan, patients need not manually enter demographic information. As soon as a patient scans a driver license or insurance card through a Clearwave kiosk, Clearware takes his or her information from Medicscan OCR makes a positive identification and, regardless of insurance carrier, conducts real-time eligibility verification. After verification is done, Clearwave passes the information to the organization’s back-end system for billing and claims submittal purposes.

“Our solution, MedicScan, scans medical cards and driver’s licenses from all 50 states as well as from various other countries and converts text and images into a database or file so the healthcare industry is a benefactor of our solution because at present, manual processes are still being used,” said Michael Jordan, Manager of Sales and Business Development for CSSN, in a press release. “We are happy to count Clearwave as an advocate for our technology because their vision for improving the efficiency and productivity of the healthcare industry is one that we believe is worthwhile and beneficial.”

“A major factor in claim denials and lost revenue involves data entry errors and incorrect patient information. If we can improve the quality of the patient data that an organization uses for billing and claims submittal, we can significantly impact an organization’s bottom line,” said Gerard White, CEO for Clearwave, in a statement. “Card Scanning Solutions is only one of two companies in the country that has this advanced optical character recognition technology so we knew right away that they were the perfect fit to enhance our solution.”

Apart from Medicscan, CSSN is also the creator of IdScan, and SnapShell, technologies used by top security and government agencies, hospitals, medical clinics, and pharmacies around the world. These technologies ensure high product accuracy, cost efficiency and improved customer service applications while reducing losses due to fraud.
