HiBeam Internet & Voice, a rapidly growing privately-owned broadband and voice provider, has selected Tellabs SmartCore 9100 platform as part of its new WiMAX (News - Alert) network.

With this new 4G wireless network, HiBeam will offer reliable and fast services to customers in selected unserved and underserved markets.

"Tellabs' (News - Alert) 4G mobile packet core solution provides HiBeam with an open network architecture, industry leading performance, and intelligence critical to network optimization," said Chuck Bernstein, vice president, North American Sales, at Tellabs.

Bernstein said that HiBeam's network enables its customers to enjoy reliable, secure, fast and cost-effective WiMAX services.

Tellabs' SmartCore 9100 platform offers a uniform and comprehensive layer of services on wireless broadband networks.

The platform provides a key interface to millions of constantly moving mobile devices with their multiple service flows to the IP world, managing security, dynamic services, seamless mobility, paging, location tracking, and dynamic charging.

"We evaluated several providers and Tellabs SmartCore 9100 platform was the clear leader in this space," said Keith Coker, chief technology officer of HiBeam.

Coker said that best in class technology is a high priority at HiBeam.

“We understand that our network technology is absolutely essential to providing WiMAX services to growing our customer base.”

Back in May, HiBeam Internet & Voice announced that it selected Huawei to provide its Radio Access Network to support the company’s services to customers in select markets in the Midwest and Southeast.
