Tier 1 Operator in India Sends Purchase Order to Aperto and Tranzeo

A purchase order from one of the largest communications service providers in India has been received by Aperto Networks (News - Alert). The Tier 1 operator will be building broadband wireless networks across India.

Based on the 802.16d standard, the WiMAX equipment is the first order placed by the Tier 1 operator. While the initial shipments begin immediately, the shipments are expected to continue over several years.

In a press release, James Tocher, who is the president and chief executive officer of Tranzeo (News - Alert), said, "We are extremely pleased to be working with this particular operator. There are multiple opportunities for not only our WiMAX solutions but also our WiFi (News - Alert) product line."
