Aside from delivering its portfolio of broadband solutions in the form of Ethernet access devices, Ethernet aggregator switches, EFM repeaters and Broadband Accelerators (BBAs), Actelis (News - Alert) Networks continues to pave its path of success by collaborating with other like-minded companies in the industry to provide unprecedented broadband solutions and services in the market.
Also known as The Broadband Acceleration Company, Actelis, has recently signed a distribution deal with KGP Logistics (News - Alert), a large U.S. single-source provider of equipment and integrated services to the communications industry. KGP joins a group of more than 200 service providers across 50 countries that currently deploy Actelis’ broadband solutions.
Under the agreement, KGP will distribute Actelis’ Broadband Accelerator (BBA) line, a group of cost-effective and fully standards-based solutions that deliver high-bandwidth ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ services to under-served and un-served locations in need of broadband solutions. Actelis’ BBA line has recently been awarded the 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award by TMC (News - Alert).
KGP Logistics and Actelis’ partnership will address the current demand of approximately one third of U.S. households being with a broadband connection. Together, the two companies will assist U.S. carriers with delivering universal broadband service to the millions of Americans without broadband whether they are out of reach or do not meet the FCC’s current definition of broadband as 4 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream.
“The Actelis BBA product line represents a major paradigm shift in the way telecom carriers address the digital divide,” said Vivek Ragavan, president and CEO of Actelis Networks. “No longer is the digital divide a challenge, but an economic opportunity. With the Actelis BBA, carriers now have a pragmatic solution that will drive increased revenues because they can finally deliver on the promise of ubiquitous broadband across their entire customer serving area.”
With the award-winning Actelis BBA, broadband rates can be boosted by as much as 100 percent on typical loops and more than 400 percent on long loops, increasing DSL penetration rates in underserved and un-served communities and delivering the necessary bandwidth to meet the definition of broadband in almost any country.
According to the company, in addition to providing broadband to underserved and un-served customers, carriers will also be able to generate incremental revenue from new applications such as on-demand and over-the-top video services. By connecting the remaining one third of the country, an estimated 100 million U.S. consumers will be online, according to the FCC’s Broadband Adoption Taskforce.
“We are pleased to be the nationwide stocking and distribution partner of universal broadband solutions currently being developed and manufactured by Actelis Networks,” said Trevor Putrah, president and COO of KGP Logistics. “Applying KGP’s core competency of complete supply chain management will ensure Actelis product is in stock, available and delivered to service providers across the country.”
