BRIEF: Biggest mobile operators accused of violating competition in Kazakhstan


Jul 31, 2012 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The results of the investigation over "Kar-Tel", "Mobile Telecom-Service" mobile operators were considered. Their actions are qualified as unfair competition (Article 23 "Competition"), the Kazakh Agency for Protection of Competition said today.



"Mobile Telecom-Service" held a social program of exchanging the company's certificates for start-up packages with bonus in Aktobe, which were previously distributed by "Mobile Telecom-Service" within launching the Tele2 network," the agency said. "Kar-Tel" with Beeline exchanged Mobile Telecom-Service's certificates on their own start-up packages and promotional materials during the day of this campaign." "Mobile Telecom-Service" in Astana also conducted a promotional campaign to exchange SIM cards of Beeline and K-Cell subscribers for Tele2's certificates, allowing to get Tele2's free sim card with the amount in the personal account worth $ 1,000 tenge (149.93 tenge = 1dollar).

"A decision was made to file administrative cases regarding these entities," a press release said.
