A panel of researchers and practitioners selected this year's honorees based on the complexity of the business challenges they faced, the usefulness of the analytics solutions they implemented, and the business impact of analytics on their organizations. For example, Michigan State Police (MSP) used Information Builders' WebFOCUS and Omni-Gen™ technologies to create a mobile, web-based search tool for troopers, detectives, supervisors, and crime analysts. By rolling out enhanced search capabilities, mobile dashboards, and an integrated data set based on golden record, MSP has increased operational efficiency by pushing real-time insights down to the trooper level, with the goal of helping deter crimes and minimize traffic accidents. This modern analytics environment enables MSP to better support its core mission of law enforcement while promoting safety across the state. St. Luke's University Health Network used these same Information Builders technologies to integrate clinical, financial, administrative, and external data from almost 50 sources throughout a regional health network that includes seven hospitals and more than 270 outpatient sites. Its advanced analytics environment leverages a cleansed and consolidated set of master data to boost performance, capture revenue, reduce costs, and compete more effectively with other regional health networks. Key areas of focus include improving clinical quality, growing market share, reducing costs, and adding new and different capabilities to support success in a changing healthcare environment.
