BRIEF: Azerbaijan's broadband Internet development concept to be submitted to Cabinet of Ministers


Aug 12, 2011 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- AzerbaijanConcept of broadband Internet development for 2011-2013 will be submitted to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, Communications and IT Ministry spokesman Mushfig Amirov told Trend.



He said now the ministry works to coordinate the final version of the document, approval of which will significantly increase the number of broadband connections throughout the country.

The strategy reflects f development of infrastructure, as well as compromise proposals related to directly internet service providers to create necessary conditions for them to enter the regions.


One of the important aspects of the strategy is the development of wireless Wi-Fi infrastructure both in the capital and in the regions, and rendering free Internet access services based on this technology.

Broadband Internet development concept is aimed at expanding Internet market, increasing the number of home connections all over the country. Its development will also affect the Internet tariffs which will be gradually reduced. The new concept will eventually reduce the cost of Internet access twice.
