China Mobile Reaped CNY125.9bn Net 2011, up 5% yoy


BEIJING, Mar 15, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Mobile communication operator China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL) harvested CNY 125.9 billion net profit in 2011, up 5.2% year on year.

The company released its 2011 performance report on March 15, indicating that it saw CNY 528 billion operating revenue in 2011, growing by 8.8% from the previous year; basic earnings per share (EPS) came at CNY 6.27 in the period, up 5.2%.



The company saw 65.55 million net growth in user number in 2011, whose user scale hit 650 million in the period, including 51 million 3G users.

In terms of business, China Mobile in 2011 saw continued growth in voice service, seeing a total of 3.8872 trillion voice minutes made by subscribers in the period, growing by 12.3% year on year; the operator saw its average monthly minutes of use (MOU) per household hit 525 in 2011, contributing to CNY 731 ARPU (average revenue per user) per month on average.


In terms of data service, the operator saw 15.4% year-on-year revenue growth in 2011, which contributed to 26.4% of the operating revenue. Its wireless Internet service in the period saw 45% growth in revenue year on year, contributing to 8.4% of the operating revenue.

In the matter of value-added service, wireless music business generated CNY 22.1 billion revenue in 2011. Other businesses like mobile reading, mobile video and mobile mailbox saw fast growth in revenue in the period.
