IOActive Launches European Hardware and Research Lab

IOActive (News - Alert), Inc. (http://www.ioactive.com), the worldwide leader in research-driven security services, today announced it is continuing to build out its global lab and research facilities with the launch of its Madrid hardware lab. The new lab, located in Madrid, Spain, will offer cutting-edge hardware security services throughout the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) regions as well as foster additional research from its highly skilled team. "IOActive is making additional investments in EMEA due to an increase client demand. The new European-based lab, where real-world security is tested, provides us with the ability to better serve the EMEA market," said Jennifer Steffens, chief executive officer for IOActive. "With our growing presence in the region, we are also on the lookout to recruit top new talent to the IOActive European team. The lab provides the team with a dedicated space to continue their research, while also engaging in deconstructing or manipulating a cloud service, a mobile app, an 'unbreakable' chip, a smart meter, or even an industrial control system. The opportunities are endless."

IOActive's new Madrid hardware lab offers:

· Embedded device security analysis

· Physical attack resistance testing

· Low-level device firmware and driver assessment

Seattle Lab IOActive's hardware lab in Seattle has been the source of widely publicized embedded device research. Work coming out of the lab includes, the recent Jeep Cherokee (http://www.ioactive.com/pdfs/IOActive_Remote_Car_Hacking.pdf) system hack, traffic control systems (http://blog.ioactive.com/2014/04/hacking-us-and-uk-australia-france-etc.html) research, and SATCOM security (http://blog.ioactive.com/2014/04/a-wake-up-call-for-satcom-security.html) research that led to the Securing Smart Cities (http://securingsmartcities.org) initiative, as well as the company's mobile banking apps (http://blog.ioactive.com/2014/01/personal-banking-apps-leak-info-through.html) research. In 2014, the Seattle lab underwent a significant transformation when it relocated to a 5,000 square-foot space equipped with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Focussed Ion Beam (FIB), confocal optical imaging equipment, and a variety of analytical tools.
