dcBLOX Inc. Opens Chattanooga Data Center

ATLANTA, Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta-based data center services firm dcBLOX Inc. has opened its newest facility in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. The new facility is the second next-generation data center location for the company, which secured more than $15 million in funding in 2016.

dcBLOX is expanding its network of data centers into secondary cities which are currently under-served by the industry. The company selected Chattanooga because of its smart utility grid, proximity to major fiber carriers, and its convenient geographic location just over 100 miles from Atlanta.

On the news of the opening Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said, "We are happy to welcome dcBLOX to Hamilton County, we know the efforts we have made over the last decade to make this a technological destination are paying off with companies like dcBLOX investing in our community. We spend a lot of time and effort educating people for the kind of jobs dcBLOX offers and our reward is when companies like dcBLOX come to Hamilton County offering good family wage jobs."

"We are the perfect location for high-tech, forward-thinking companies like dcBLOX," said Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke. "This major investment will create many new good-paying jobs in our city and clearly demonstrates we have te innovation assets and necessary infrastructure in place to attract next-generation technology companies to Chattanooga."

The opening of the Chattanooga site enables dcBLOX to provide Active-to-Active high-speed synchronization of IT systems over a geographically diverse area and almost instantaneous disaster recovery for data-intensive applications. dcBLOX co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Jake Ring explained, "Our 100Gb private optical network connecting our Atlanta and Chattanooga locations is scalable to over 17Tb, so customers can transfer, backup and restore large business-critical datasets and systems in minutes, if not mere seconds."

dcBLOX has deployed proprietary modular enclosure systems to create uniquely flexible next generation data centers. The enclosures allow tremendous flexibility in handling the greater power densities of high-performance compute and hyper-converged systems, up to five times that of a traditional data center. The firm's energy-efficient facilities house the company's OpenStack cloud with integrated SDN (software defined networking), providing nearly infinite scalability and on-demand expansion for today's high growth companies.

With Service Level Agreements (SLA) that support up to 99.999% reliability for both cloud and network systems, Ring says, "dcBLOX brings a new level of security and confidence to technology leaders moving workloads to the cloud."
