Fleet Management Software Gets a Solid Treatment from Trilithic

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

If you’re looking for good fleet management software, you’ll want to at least check out Trilithic’s offering TechPoint, a pretty comprehensive fleet management tool.

It’s billed as a way to get “complete fleet control at your finger tips,” with more efficient routing using dynamic dispatch, the ability to mobilize business processes in the field, reduce fuel and labor costs -- if that sort of thing interests you -- reduce errors with paperless forms and, best of all for this sort of product, no hardware or software maintenance required.

It’s good on the basics of fleet management, solid on such core functions as asset tracking and driver safety using GPS technology, while being scalable to fleets of different sizes, and helping reduce fuel and labor cost by minimizing routing errors and total mileage.

And the whole no hardware or software maintenance part is because TechPoint is cloud-based. Trilithic hosts the software, providing all the support and updating and maintenance.

You can also use TechPoint to do such things as track the location of a variety of equipment – mobile phones, wireless modems, black boxes and other GPS devices, actually pinpoint the current location of your mobile resources on a detailed web-based map and identify drivers, jobs, assets and landmarks with custom icons on the map.

In addition to a raft of other features, the product lets you play back a history of where resources have been for any day or time, import GIS plant map information and establish organizational hierarchy for efficient management of business units.

It also has an optional dispatch module used for work order and work flow management, providing real-time status updates and the ability to mobilize business processes in the field by letting you create, dispatch, and track work orders and job status, quickly find the right resource for the job, have ease of operation by providing key data in one click and transmit critical work order data to the field in real-time.

In August TMC’s (News - Alert) Susan J. Campbell wrote that Trilithic’s VTF series of frequency hopping filters are designed to offer the user the capability of turning over multiple octave ranges while also maintaining extremely tight tolerances on performance. When performance is optimized, the network and supported communications continue as expected.
