Communication Test Equipment: Trilithic's FaultLine MPEG Analysis Tool- Simplicity Itself

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Keeping in their tradition of releasing fine communication test equipment for industrial communications testing management, officials of Trilithic have announced the FaultLine MPEG Analysis Solution, which they say helps techs identify problems with compressed video streams in cable, satellite and other video delivery networks.

It’s a simple, turnkey offering, which should endear it with front-line users. It comes with an embedded dashboard that provides MPEG-2 transport stream monitoring in a variety of video formats.

Among other features, it offers 24x7 monitoring from a PC, video-over-IP QoE/QoS metrics, simultaneous analysis of up to 1024 video streams and the ability to isolate ard-to-find intermittent problems as well as dashboard displays for NOC (News - Alert) monitoring.

The operation is simplicity itself: Set up user-defined alert and notification options and the software sends an e-mail or text message whenever there’s a service disruption that meets the specified criteria,” Trilithic officials say. What could be easier than that?

Recently TMC’s (News - Alert) Susan J. Campbell wrote that Trilithic’s VTF series of frequency hopping filters are designed to offer the user the capability of turning over multiple octave ranges while also maintaining extremely tight tolerances on performance. When performance is optimized, the network and supported communications continue as expected.

A number of sites can experience issues when interference is created by an environment that is RF crowded. The VTF series of filters can help to mitigate the issues present, and prevent problems such as ground vehicle mounted and shipboard systems. One of the perks offered by this test equipment is a smaller footprint to allow better performance.

Trilithic has positioned the VTF Series of filters to be ideal for new system applications, as well as system modifications that are already in place. To extend the value of this solution, Trilithic also offers several frequency ranges to meet various communication test equipment needs.
