Facilitating quick development of small cells including low-cost LTE Home eNodeB, enterprise femtocells and picocells, Tata Elxsi (News - Alert), the global provider of solutions and services for 4G broadband wireless, has introduced a comprehensive LTE Small cell software suite.
“We are pleased to offer customers a full-featured solution for small cells and a professional services team that can help them take it to market quickly," said Mr. Nitin Pai, vice president, marketing, Tata Elxsi in a company press release. "Our engineering teams are also working with customers for specialized solutions to address spectrum management, data offloading and intelligent relays.”
Tata Elxsi's LTE (News - Alert) Smallcell software suite enables SoC based implementations including L1, L2/L3 and radio integration. Along with several improvements and optimization to suit System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture requirements, the protocol stack for L2/L3 is specially designed for Small cell functionality.
Supporting ANR, Closed Subscriber Group, Mobility Load Balancing and ICIC essential for Femto cell management and improved radio performance, the protocol stack includes a highly optimized air resource scheduler and a SON framework, the company stated in a press release.
With SNMP and TR069 based management interfaces, the software suite also includes a complete EMS framework for LTE small cells. Enabling rapid product deployment and time-to-market while reducing costs and risk, this is backed by a team of over 400 software and system engineers, which provides Tata Elxsi customers the unique ability to quickly implement the software across different silicon platforms with differentiated features and applications. For 3GPP Release 8/9 compliant LTE base stations on various silicon platforms, Tata Elxsi offers fully integrated reference designs.
Recently, the company launched its Next Generation Hybrid Set Top Box or ‘STB’ reference solution that has been derived from OpenCable Application Platform or ‘OCAP’ stack. The new solution introduced by Tata Elxsi will be independent from any platform, and will offer enhanced support for in-home distribution, content protection and advanced user experience through the Android (News - Alert) framework. It is a Quadrature Amplitude Modulation or ‘QAM’ & IP enabled Customer Premises Equipment.
