Verizon Wireless (News - Alert), a provider of wireless connectivity services, recently revealed it is launching 4G LTE (News - Alert) network in 27 new markets, including in Ocala, Fla. and nearby communities.
The company will also be expanding its wireless network services in 44 areas across the United States. With this launch, Verizon’s high speed 4G LTE network will be made available to more than two-thirds of the U.S. population, representing 230 markets.
The Ocala area communities that will be covered at launch of 4G LTE include: The Villages, Wildwood, Belleview, Belleview Heights, Park Ranch, Lowell, Anthony, Blichton, Fellowship, Mount Olive, Martel, Early Bird, York, Rolling Hills, Marion Oaks, Pedro, Dallas, Lake Weir, Shady, Bahia Oaks, Montague and Romeo.
Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network offers average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink. Verizon’s customers with 4G LTE-enabled devices can benefit from advanced options such as streaming video, sharing music and photos, surfing the Web and downloading files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks.
"Introducing our 4G LTE network to Ocala reinforces our commitment to leading the way in 4G LTE and providing our customers the best products and services available," said Pam Tope, Florida region president for Verizon Wireless, in a statement. "With the 4G LTE network, residents in Ocala can push the boundaries of communication by taking advantage of the speed and connectivity offered by 4G LTE."
Verizon Wireless has been on a 4G LTE expansion spree as of late. Just last month, the company enhanced its 4G LTE coverage in New Hampshire, by allowing for increased coverage in the vicinity of Routes 101, 123 and 45 in the city of Temple.
